Washing Machine InLine Water Filter A problem area on all washing machines is the need to clean the inlet water value filter screen of sediment buildup. As the screen gets contaminated with sediment, the water flow decreases adding extended time to the wash cycle and distorting the water temperature mix. In extreme cases the sediment gets trapped between the washers solenoid allowing the water to continue to run, causing flooding. Surveys indicate this screen requires cleaning on a average every 1-6 months, depending on the sediment contamination of the water supply. This screen is located behind the machine at the base of the water supply lines and requires the washer to be pulled away from the wall, hoses and screens to be disconnected, cleaned and re-assembled.
