Filters out chlorine taste, "fishy" taste (from algae blooms in summer), lasts much longer than expiration date.
Expensive
Posted Jun 10, 2006 - Note that first reviewer probably had the plastic place-holder filter in the fridge, which could very likely give you plastic-tasting water. We have public water supply that's mildly chlorinated. This filter removed all traces of chlorine taste for over a year. In fact, it was the best tasting water I'd had in 30 years! These filters are meant to last 6 months or so but delivered good water for over a year (could be we don't drink as much water as average families).

Worked for 14 days!
Water started to taste bad after 14 days
Posted May 1, 2006 - We bought a brand new LG side by side refrigerator with a water filter and everything worked fine for 14 days. Suddenly the water started tasting real bad - like plastic. We checked everything and found that the water going directly to the fridge was fine. We now have to change the filter already. Best Buy does not even carry this filter even though we bought the fridge there!
