I did this until the dirt would not dust off and I had two spots the size of softballs on them. Ture ground in dirt. I put the shorts on the top of the load. When I opened the lid after the washer had finished the shorts were somewhere in the middle of the load and clean. My kind of results.

Great Machine

Strengths: Does it's job, cleans clothes well

Weakness: no final cycle buzzer, some cycles last an hour plus

I really like this machine, it does exactly what is suppose to do; it gets clothes clean ! Some reviews arent so well, I'm guessing it's because most new users to a top loading "HE" machine expect it to run, work and sound like their old top loading "agitator" machine. This is not the case; new users to this machine need to read the manual and follow the steps as discribed. You must use HE detergent, you must add the detergent before the clothes, and you must just trust the machine and leave it alone while it does its job.Once you add the clothes, walk away, dont look at it, dont check on it, just let it do its job. Yes it makes some really weird noises that freak my cat out, but that's what it does. I'm a mechanic and have some very dirty clothes, my wife is amazed on how this machine works on tough stains. Plus we couldnt believe how fast our 10 year old dryer can dry our laundry now, the spin cycle takes out a lot of water.If you buy this machine, take the time to read the manual and follow the instructions; the machine is a different beast from your old machine, oh, and use the "HE" detergent ! Very important !
