Meco 5031 Charcoal Combo Water Smoker

Good family smoker

Strengths: Easy to move and store,Smoked meats taste great,Inexpensive to purchase.

Weakness: Temperture control.

I purchased this unit because this was my first attempt at smoking food,and I didn't want to invest much money until I decided this smoking of food was for me. I do not regrat making this purchase.
When the smoker arrived it was easy to assemble,and all the parts were there. Directions were good. The quality seems decent enough except for when you put it together the main body or barrel is out of round. Made a few adjustment and the lid fits ok. Another modification I made was to replace the temp. gauge to one that shows the actual temp in degrees instead of warm,ideal or hot. I have used this smoker 5 or 6 times,it would be better if the bottom was more air tight and had adjustable vents to help control the temps.
The food has always been excellent. And the Meco 5031 has plenty of room to smoke enough food for a large family or a small party. Clean up is fairly easy when you cover the water bowl in alunimiun foil prior to usiing.
All in all a really good value for someone on a tight budget or for someone who is not sure they'll like the taste of smoked food.
