Strengths: I have had good experience with Krups in the past, and this machine appears to be of the same high-quality of other machines. Good value

Weakness: This model does not have some of the same high-quailty parts of other Krups machines (only a 1-piece espresso filter, no "perfect froth" attachment for steaming milk.)

The machine lacks the following things that some other Krups machines have: 1. It only has a 1 piece filter set for the espresso filter 2. No "perfect frothing" attachment 3. Cannot make drip coffee and espresso simultaneously 4. No attachment for espresso filter for making steamed milk. The machine is still a great value, but it lacks the above things that come with other Krups machines

Homeowner model best suited for infrequent use

Strengths: Makes quick espresso

Weakness: Does not use top quality parts-- lots of plastic and glass; certainly a consumer model

I've had this unit for a little longer than a year. It's fine, but I wouldn't buy it again. It's a home model-- not industrial by any means. Both carafes are glass. The coffee pot lid is hinged and must be carefully removed if you want to use the dishwasher. The espresso lid is not meant to come off also, but it fits in my dishwasher in 1 piece.
