Not bad for the price
Strengths: Inexpensive, easy to operate, small profile
Weakness: Fan could be stronger, not a slide-in chassis
We picked up this unit at Circuit City for $160 plus tax, and for an occasional-use 8000BTU AC, I can't really complain. I wish it was a slide-in chassis, but the unit is SO much smaller than our old unit that it was pretty easy to handle. Weakness: heavy, not energy star
It is very quiet air conditioner, which is easy on wallet. I wish it was energy star compliant, but otherwise solid. bought it on buy.com. the unit is heavy, so upsfreight smashed the box, but unit have not suffered any damage. It cools room quickly. it has remote. The display on the unit does not show room temperature, but the set value.

Strengths: Good price, good European brand, part of Phillips, with 5 year warranty.
Weakness: Not an EER 1.8 like some other competitors, but after calls and e-mails to N-Star, the Federal department, numerous electrical stores, NO-ONE can quantify the cost in having a 9.8 v 10.8 EER product.
Just amazed that no-one so far has been able to explain to me what this EER means. If I have two 8,000btu's one cost $160 (LG) EER 9.8 and the other costs $200 EER 10.8. I would say if the 9.8 costs me $10 more per month than the 10.8, for same use, within a year, it would have been cheaper to buy the more expensive model. But, as I mentioned, no one can explain this, so I will use the LG and see...

The AC does a great job in quickly cool my bedroom and the the size is great. The functions are easy to operate and the remote comes in handy. The noise level is about medium and I had no problem falling asleep. I got this unit for a great price at PC Richards and it comes with a 5 year warranty. I love the dry only and energy saving modes.

Strengths: Cheap price, 5 year warranty, acceptably quiet operation

I bought this unit for its cheap price and brand name, and it does what it should do, i.e. cooling. The menu might be too simple for those who looks for fancy functions, but I'm satisfied with its functions.
